Her Royal Highness Princess Chulabhorn is dedicating her time practising the guzheng, a traditional Chinese zither, that she will play in the upcoming concert on ‘Thailand-China: Two Lands One Relationship’,
The Princess went to rehearse her performance on Friday with the Royal Thai Navy Symphony Orchestra, the second time in less than two weeks. She will play the 21-string instrument along with a variety of Thai and Chinese music as well as dances in the concert, which will be the fifth in its series.
The princess fell in love with the serene and soul-searching sounds of the guzheng while on a visit to China over a decade ago and since then has dedicated much of her time to learning about the instrument and refining her playing technique.
During 12-22 January this year, the Princess visited China to have special lessons on the instrument with two top Chinese artists.
Proceeds from the concerts in August this year will go to the Chulabhorn Research Institute and Chulabhorn Hospital.
