Bangkok City Beats is proud to present FLIM @ Club Culture
FLIM ( CAN// Mutate To Survive ) www.flimsound.com
Funky-acid-tribal-techno + Dittaphat Janprasert = FLIM
If inquiring minds require something a little more comprehensive, we need to go back to where it all started: the beginning. Born in the southern region of Thailand, Flim’s passion for music was evident from birth. By the tender age of six, his village was already cursing his relentless banging of drums and thrashing of guitars. Rock stardom wasn’t far behind, as at age 10, he landed his first gig as a drummer for a local heavy metal outfit, with members 20 years his senior.
By the late 1990’s, Flim’s musical inspiration diverged from heavy metal after he attended a techno party on the reclusive island of Koh-Panghan. But he was faced with a conundrum: passion to learn without access to the tools of the trade. His salvation came in the form of Jah Dub, a local after-hours club. Long after the last patron had left the venue, Flim could be found behind the 1’s and 2’s attempting to master his craft. His efforts were soon rewarded as he began dropping beats at venues throughout Thailand, including the Reggae Club, Sound Shack and, of course, the notorious Gecko Bar. It wasn’t long before the buzz surrounding his infectious and energetic performances led to residencies at Thailand’s world-renowned Full Moon, Black Moon, and Half Moon parties.
In 2002, Flim relocated from Thailand to the epicentre of electronic music in Canada – Toronto. Seeking to share his love of music to a new audience, he founded Blackmoon Productions. Flim’s name quickly became synonymous with Canada’s Free Techno scene due to his memorable squat parties at various infiltration sites.
Today, he is a favourite of some of Canada’s biggest clubs and promoters and has shared the decks with international talent including, D.A.V.E. the Drummer, Chris Liberator, Julian Liberator, Lenny Dee, Roland the Bastard, Scott Brown, Delta 9, Patrick DSP, Sarah Fab and many more.
Hot on the heels of his freshly releqse first EP on the UK label Mutate to Survive, this socially conscious Rasta Thai is hard at work in the studio crafting his own brand of funky-acid-tribal-techno. More to come soon!
