The Royal Thai Navy, The Rowing and Canoeing Association of Thailand and Kasikornthai Bank are jointly hosting the 2011 King’s Cup KBank Dragon Boat Championship during 11- 12 February 2012 in Bangkok to mark the auspicious occasion of His Majesty the King’s 7th Cycle Birthday Anniversary.
Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn will witness the competition and graciously present awards to winners. The King’s Cup KBank Dragon Boat Championship will be held in the Chao Phraya River in front of Kasikornthai Bank Head Office (Rat Burana Building).
Royal Barge Anantanakkharat will carry the royal trophy granted by His Majesty the King for the 2011 championship.
The competition involves Dragon boats from many countries, such as China, Malaysia, the Philippines, Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan, Liechtenstein, and Thailand.
The competition has been conceived with a concept that boat racing is a sport of unity because all rowers in the boat have to synchronize their action. This signifies the unity that His Majesty the King always underlines in his speech to Thai people. The competition therefore represents a sign of loyalty shown by the people that they firmly pursue the royal advice.
