STEINWAY YOUTH PIANO COMPETITION
The Steinway Youth Piano Competition is an important biennial event organised by Steinway & Sons. Its purpose is to identify, encourage, and promote young pianists in the early stages of their careers. Various countries will be running national level competitions to determine representatives for the Hamburg Festival in Germany.
This year, 9 Asian nations including Thailand, have been invited to take part in this national competition. Each country will select one winner who will compete in the Steinway Regional Finals in Singapore. The 1st prize winner will appear in concert alongside representatives from several European nations.
In Thailand, the Steinway Youth Piano Competition is open to all eligible pianists. There are two categories. The Youth Piano Competition is open to pianists age 17 and under and the winner of this competition would qualify to the Steinway Regional Finals in Singapore. The Concerto Competition is open to pianists age 25 and under and the winner of this competition will get to perform the selected piano concerto with the Bangkok Charity Orchestra in Thailand.
The competition allows talented young pianists in Thailand to develop and enhance performing experiences as well as to gain exposure to compete at an international level.
