As the younger sister of guitarist Nick Perri, Christina taught herself guitar at the age of 16. At the age of 21, Perri moved to Los Angeles and began releasing music videos of her talents on YouTube, but moved back to Philadelphia a year later. There she wrote “Jar of Hearts” shortly before giving LA another chance and working as a waitress. Her friend passed along a copy of the song to a choreographer on So You Think You Can Dance in 2010, and the song’s inclusion in the show left audiences wondering who performed it. Less than a month later, Perri had a record deal and released her debut EP, The Ocean Way Sessions, just a few months later. The EP and Perri’s 2011 debut album, lovestrong, have received acclaim from a number of critics and the latter has broken into the top 5 of the Billboard 200.
