Klong, a small waterway that has been a part of Thai lives for many decades.
It was the birthplace and origin of the Thai way of life, the communication port,
the food source, the protector from enemy invasion and a brewing ground for
culture and traditions alike. As time goes by, our lifestyle changes according
to season and modern development. From living facing Klongs, our backs
are now turned against it, taking it for granted. As they slowly disappear from
our daily routine, they too, get polluted and replaced by tarmac roads.
I grew up around Klongs and much like myself, there was a point in my life where
I too left it. But in the end, the gentle and peaceful canal lead me back and
ultimately became my inspiration for this series of work.
My only hope is to be able to bring back colourful yesteryears memory
of life by the water, not only on canvas but back into the Thai way of life once again.
