What happens when someone who feels voiceless has a megaphone? What happens when someone who feels invisible starts using a camera? “See What I See: Photographs by and about urban refugees in Bangkok” answers that question.
Seven photographers from 14-45 years old participated. They are from Sri Lanka, Pakistan, The Democratic Republic of the Congo, China, Cambodia and Iran. They participated in a one-day photography training organized at the Jesuit Refugee Service in Bangkok and were lent small cameras for two months. When they came back, they told the stories behind their photos.
Please join us Saturday, 28 January at Toot Yung Gallery to view the images, speak with the photographers, enjoy music and food representing their nationalities and gain an understanding of the difficulties faced by more than 2,600 people seeking asylum in Bangkok.
